The Vincentian priests originally established St.
John’s University
in 1870, the year construction began on the Brooklyn
Bridge during the administration of
Ulysses S. Grant when the population of the United
States was 40 million. The original college was located in Brooklyn
and had a total enrollment of 47 students.
The main campus of the university is presently located in Queens,
with additional campuses in Staten Island, Long
Island and a University Graduate
Center in Rome. St. John’s
has an enrollment of 18,500 students and the six schools and colleges
comprising the university offer more than 100 academic majors.
Andrew J. Desiderio, P.E., P.C. has provided
professional engineering services for the University on a continuous
basis. We have worked with the Plant
Operations department of St.
John’s in the preparation
of a long-term capital budget for the maintenance of the entire Queens
campus. Our services have also been
utilized in addressing air quality issues, HVAC design of two (2) specially
fabricated rooftop air handling units serving St. John’s Hall and mechanical,
electrical and plumbing engineering and design services for various projects
within this campus.
