The Vincentian priests originally established St. John’s University in 1870, the year construction began on the Brooklyn Bridge during the administration of Ulysses S. Grant when the population of the United States was 40 million.  The original college was located in Brooklyn and had a total enrollment of 47 students.

The main campus of the university is presently located in Queens, with additional campuses in Staten Island, Long Island and a University Graduate Center in Rome.  St. John’s has an enrollment of 18,500 students and the six schools and colleges comprising the university offer more than 100 academic majors.   Andrew J. Desiderio, P.E., P.C. has provided professional engineering services for the University on a continuous basis.  We have worked with the Plant Operations department of St. John’s in the preparation of a long-term capital budget for the maintenance of the entire Queens campus.  Our services have also been utilized in addressing air quality issues, HVAC design of two (2) specially fabricated rooftop air handling units serving St. John’s Hall and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering and design services for various projects within this campus.
